How to Get Food Assistance in Las Vegas

How to Get Food Assistance in Las Vegas: Understanding Your Options

The Just One Project provides food assistance across Southern Nevada through community grocery markets, mobile food distributions, home-delivered meals, and programs for older adults. Each program has its own participation requirements, locations, and services.

If you’re looking for free groceries or help accessing nutritious meals in Las Vegas, understanding these options can help you find the right place to start.

Through our Food For All programs, we provide access to fresh produce, pantry staples, prepared meals, and other essential food resources. Our Client Services team can help explain available programs, eligibility requirements, and how to participate.

No-Cost Community Market: Shop for Groceries at No Cost

Our No-Cost Community Market offers individuals and families the opportunity to select groceries for their households through a client-choice shopping experience.

The market provides a variety of items, which may include:

  • Fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Proteins, eggs, and dairy products
  • Pantry staples and whole-grain bread
  • Household essentials

Participants can choose available foods that fit their household preferences and dietary needs.

The No-Cost Community Market is available at The Just One Project’s Decatur headquarters and select Clark County School District (CCSD) locations.

Appointments are required, and eligibility may vary by location. Registered participants can access the market once each month.

To learn about registration or schedule an appointment, contact our Client Services team at 702-462-2253.

Pop Up & Give Mobile Markets: Food Assistance in Southern Nevada Neighborhoods

Our Pop Up & Give Mobile Markets distribute fresh groceries at participating CCSD schools and senior housing communities across Southern Nevada.

These monthly distributions bring food assistance into neighborhoods through established community locations.

School-Based Mobile Markets

Pop Up & Give distributions at participating CCSD locations are open to community members. No appointment is required.

Depending on the location, participants can receive groceries through walk-up or drive-through distribution. Food is distributed while supplies last.

Dates and participating locations are published through The Just One Project. Check the current schedule before attending.

Senior Housing Distributions

Pop Up & Give also serves participating senior housing communities.

These distributions operate separately from the school-based markets. Residents should contact their housing office or our Client Services team to confirm whether their location participates and how to receive groceries.

Food Assistance for Adults Age 60 and Older

The Just One Project offers several food programs specifically for older adults in Southern Nevada.

The appropriate program depends on age, eligibility, and whether someone can shop for groceries, prepare meals, or travel to a distribution location.

Senior Nutrition & Wellness

Our Senior Nutrition & Wellness program provides eligible adults age 60 and older with a monthly box of supplemental food.

The boxes contain USDA-provided foods such as proteins, fruits, vegetables, grains, and pantry staples.

Eligibility is based on age, income, Nevada residency, and current program requirements.

Participants can arrange pickup through designated distribution locations, including our Decatur headquarters.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels provides nutritious prepared meals delivered weekly to eligible homebound adults age 60 and older.

The program serves older adults who are unable to prepare their own meals and meet additional eligibility requirements.

Enrollment depends on program availability.

Golden Groceries

Golden Groceries provides supplemental groceries, including fresh produce, proteins, and whole grains, for eligible adults age 60 and older who can prepare their own meals.

Depending on eligibility and availability, groceries may be provided through home delivery or drive-through distribution.

Our Client Services team can help older adults and their families understand the differences between these programs and inquire about enrollment.

Emergency Food Assistance Through TEFAP

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a federal program that provides USDA food at no cost to eligible households.

The Just One Project distributes TEFAP food through select Food For All programs, including Pop Up & Give Mobile Markets.

Eligibility is based on current program guidelines, including Nevada residency and household income requirements.

Because federal guidelines and distribution procedures can change, participants should review the current eligibility information or contact our Client Services team before visiting a location.

Food Is Medicine Farmers Market

Our Food Is Medicine Farmers Market connects fresh produce with nutrition education.

The program provides an opportunity for eligible participants to access nutritious ingredients while learning about food choices and healthy eating.

Participation requirements and availability differ from those of our other food assistance programs.

How to Find the Right Food Assistance Program

The Just One Project offers several ways to access food because household circumstances differ.

Someone who can visit a grocery market may be eligible for the No-Cost Community Market. A person seeking groceries at a neighborhood distribution may be able to attend a Pop Up & Give event. An older adult who cannot prepare meals may qualify for Meals on Wheels.

The first step is to identify which services are available and understand their participation requirements.

Our Client Services team can explain:

  • Which food programs may be appropriate for your circumstances
  • Whether registration or an appointment is required
  • Current locations and distribution schedules
  • Eligibility requirements and documents needed
  • Available services for older adults or people needing home delivery

You do not need to determine which program is appropriate before contacting us.

Food Assistance and Additional Support

The Just One Project also provides supportive services through Community Connect.

Food assistance may be one immediate need among several challenges a household is managing. Community Connect offers services including intensive case management, housing assistance, youth case management, and workforce development.

These services have their own eligibility and enrollment processes. Participation in a food assistance program does not automatically require enrollment in Community Connect.
