Rachel Skidmore is the Director of Community Engagement for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), where she has served for over a decade. She leads initiatives focused on youth programs, anti-violence efforts, homeless outreach, behavioral health, addiction support, and crisis intervention.
Previously, she was the Deputy Director of the Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center, managing law enforcement emergency response, critical infrastructure outreach, preparedness planning, and grant procurement. She has held leadership roles in state and federal committees, including Nevada’s Homeland Security Resiliency Committee and the National Fusion Center Private Sector Engagement Committee.
Rachel played a key role in LVMPD’s emergency response to 1 October, activating the Department Operations Center (DOC) and co-authoring an after-action report with FEMA and the Clark County Fire Department. She later led LVMPD’s COVID-19 emergency response, overseeing its longest-ever DOC activation.
A Brigham Young University graduate, Rachel was recognized in Vegas Inc.’s “40 Under 40” for her impact on the community. She also serves on the board of Women of Metro, mentoring women in law enforcement.
Outside of work, Rachel stays busy with her husband and three sons, who are on their way to MLB stardom.
