Scott Leedom has been with Southwest Gas Corporation for over eight years, first joining the team as a Manager on the Public Affairs team. A little over two years later, Scott moved into his current role as Regulatory & Public Affairs Director, where he oversees the company’s Government Affairs, Community Affairs and Regulatory functions in Nevada and California. With a team of 15 professional staff throughout these states and Arizona, he is responsible for maintaining relationships with elected officials and community and industry leaders and oversees the company’s political giving and legislative strategies and advocacy efforts. He is also responsible for all the company’s work in the community, including its employee giving and volunteer programs and developing plans and strategies to distribute nearly $2 million in corporate philanthropic contributions to nonprofit organizations throughout the company’s service territory each year.
Scott grew up in Las Vegas, attended Bonanza High School, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. While earning his degree, Scott joined the Southern Nevada Water Authority as an intern, working his way up to manager in his twelve years at the organization. After his time at the SNWA, Scott moved to Salt Lake City, UT to work at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as the Senior Manager of Government Relations.
Scott has served on several boards over his 20-year career, including the Colorado River Regional Sewer Coalition, Arizona Tax Research Association, Vegas Chamber Government Affairs Committee, Henderson Development Association, Southern Nevada Home Builders Association Legislative Committee, ImpactNV, and others. Scott and his wife of 20 years, Heather, have five children together.
