From Food Assistance to Community Connect
At The Just One Project, we’ve always been driven by one mission: to create a stronger, healthier, and more connected Southern Nevada. What started as a focus on addressing food insecurity quickly grew into something much larger.
We realized that food assistance, while critical, was only part of the solution. Many of our clients faced challenges like housing instability, financial hardship, and limited access to resources that hindered their ability to thrive. This understanding led to the creation of Community Connect, TJOP’s comprehensive social services arm.
Why the Shift Was Needed
Through conversations with clients and the experience gained from our food programs, we identified key areas where additional support was necessary:
- Stable Housing: Many families lacked a safe place to call home.
- Economic Empowerment: Job training and financial literacy were critical for long-term success.
- Youth Leadership: Investing in the next generation ensures a brighter future for our community.
Addressing these interconnected challenges meant moving beyond food assistance and providing a holistic safety net for individuals and families.
